81 Degrees North: Above the Arctic Circle

In the fall of 2023, Stan and his wife, Margaret, travelled high above the Arctic Circle (81degrees N). The expedition included the spectacular eastern coast of Greenland and a chance to explore the remains of ancient Thule settlements and deep fjords. Also, on the itinerary was Spitsbergen, the only sparsely populated island of the remote Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard. This expedition takes you deep into the remarkable region full of stark beauty, surrounded by stunning landscapes, vast but receding glaciers, icebergs, and soaring cliffs to colorful tundra. The abundant wildlife, i.e. walruses that can be 12 feet long and weigh over 2,000 lbs., arctic fox and majestic polar bears that are certainly some of the highlights of this captivating experience.

Stan, who has lived or traveled on all seven continents, will also devote a portion of his presentation to answering your questions about the wonderful world of travel.
