Wonders of the Open Road: Europe

Amsterdam, NL to Astrakhan, RU: May 2006

In May, 2006, Stan Havlick, Rick Compton, Mike Thompson, and Shane Cole dipped their back wheels into the North Sea off the Atlantic Ocean on the Northwest Coast of the Netherlands. Two months and nearly three thousand miles later, they dipped their front wheels into the Volga River adjoining the Caspian Sea. Their ride took this dedicated cycling team through the rural regions of the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. The team then continued through Ukraine, into a remote area of Russia where they finish their expedition in Astrakhan next to the Caspian Sea.

This was the completion of a fourteen year quest to cycle coast-to-coast across all six bike-able continents.  Join Stan as he shares his takes and photos of this extraordinary adventure and unique cultural experiences. Stan, who has lived or traveled on all seven continents, will also devoted a portion of his program to answering your questions about the wonderful world of travel.
