Wonders of the Open Road: Africa

Cape Town, ZA to Dar es Salaam, TZ: March 2004

In March, 2004, Stan Havlick, Dan Foster, Joe Foster, and Garry Kijan dipped their back wheels into the Atlantic Ocean on the shore of South Africa near Capet Town. Nearly two months and three thousand miles later, they dipped their front wheels into the Indian Ocean near Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Their ride took this dedicated cycling team through remote, unknown regions of South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, and Tanzania. Stan will also include the team’s ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, in the presentation.

Join Stan as he shares his takes and photos of this extraordinary adventure and unique cultural experience. Stan, who has lived or traveled on all seven continents, will devote a portion of his program to answering your questions about the wonderful world of travel.
