Wonders of the Open Road: South America

Lima, PE to Rio de Janeiro, BR: September 2001

In September, 2001, Stan Havlick, John Stone, Dwayne Bergeron, and Rob Lewis dipped their back wheels into the Pacific Ocean on the shores of Peru near Lima.

Nearly six weeks and three thousand miles later, they dipped their front wheels into the Atlantic Ocean, near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Their ride took this dedicated cycling team over the rugged Andes Mountains and deserts of Peru and Bolivia and into the highlands of Southern Brazil.

Join Stan as he shares his takes and photos of this extraordinary adventure and unique cultural experience.

Stan, who has lived or traveled on all seven continents, will devote a portion of his program to answering your questions about the wonderful world of travel.
